ASICS City Relay 2016

The ASICS City Relay 2016 is the first ever relay run held in Kuala Lumpur. It was a relay marathon run around the city starting from Dataran Merdeka (Medeka Square). There is two category: half marathon and full marathon.
Hubby participated in the full marathon category. He joined the full marathon with 4 other friends.
So what is full marathon relay.....well, it was a full marathon run but ran by 4 members. Each running approximately 10.6km then the other member will continue.

I took the opportunity again to follow him to his event for photography. I was very nervous cause it's really difficult to take night photography moreover at a running event. Oh my gosh...

It was a night of fun and excitement for participants as well as photographers. We left the event past midnight. Feeling exhausted but looking at the results of the photographs, it was all worth.

Why am I so busy on that Saturday.....even though school holiday has started but my has to go to school for extra UPSR coaching. Busy Weekend - Wedding Banquet

The wedding was held the day before, so this day was quite relaxing cause we are only preparing for the wedding banquet in the evening. After breakfast, we went shopping with my sister in law's family. Their SGD were really good for spending. The spent a good few hours shopping and we left for home around 4:00pm to prepare ourselves for the wedding banquet.
We arrived at the banquet venue around 6:30pm...guests were arriving...the bride and groom were preparing themselves to receive the guests. As for me, I was busy taking photos for the guests and family members.

The dinner begins around 8:30pm with the arrival of the bride and groom with background music. The meals were served. After the first few dishes were served, the bride and groom together with their parents will toast to the guests.

Yummmmm.....Seng !

Then after the bride and groom together with parents and groom men will proceed to every table for yum seng and photography.

Here wishing my niece and her hubby a happy and ever lasting marriage.

Busy Weekend - Wedding Reception

Saturday morning.....

Today was a busy but happy day. My hubby's niece is getting married. It's a Chinese traditional wedding reception at her home. We arrived around 8:30am. The bride was still having her make up and hair done.
Everyone was busy with preparation, some of the nieces and sister in laws were busy preparing games for the gate crashing. While others were chit chatting away....

These were the items prepared for the gate crashing game. There's "sweet, sour, bitter and spicy" edibles....which includes bitter gourd for bitterness, Korean extra spicy noodles for spicy, lemon juice for sour and Coca-Cola for sweetness. These were to test the groom and his groom men's sincerity towards the bridge. There were also questions for groom to answer about the bridge. He would be punished if he failed to answer correctly. Some of the punishment include blowing up the heart shaped balloon, yoga pose and etc

The gate crashing game took about an hour before the groom meets the bride.

The traditional wedding reception is followed by tea ceremony where the newlyweds present tea to the parents and relatives in sequence of seniority.  Those who receive the tea usually give the bride gifts such as jewelry or Li Shi money wrapped in red envelope or angpow. Thus it's the end of the ritual and the wedding proceeds to the groom's home to present the tea ceremony.
The wedding banquet is held the next day.....

Busy Weekend - Bachelorette night

It was an extremely busy weekend last week since Friday. My hubby's niece is getting married.... It was also meant to be the family gathering cause some of my hubby's siblings are in Singapore and they only come back to KL for family celebrations.
My busy weekend begins on Friday picking up my 2nd sister in law's family of five at the KLIA. After picking them up, we went for breakfast and their favourite each time arriving to KL was to have the Fish head noodles at Taman Desa.
After breakfast, brought them home to settle down and freshen up. As my children would only be home around 5-6pm, they decided to stay home and rest while waiting for my children to be home.
In the evening, after my children were home, everyone get ready to my mother in law's home for dinner. Since my niece's wedding is on Saturday, they are having the hen's night, or also known as bachelorette night.

The night was filled with fun and laughter. Everyone was so happy to meet up and enjoyed every moment of the night. We took the opportunity to celebrate my eldest brother in law's birthday too.
He lives in Singapore and only comes back to KL once a year.

The family has about 30+ members....so it was really crowded....hahaha

We left for home around 11:00pm cause we need to be there again for the wedding reception early morning.

Brunch 18/5/2016

I woke up around 9am this morning. First thing is to clean up the dishes left from kids' breakfast. Then tidy the kids bed. Then collect the dried clothes. Then around 10:00am+ felt hungry but there's no bread. Didn't feel like eating biscuits or cereals...was having an appetite for something salty....
So opened the fridge and saw the bottle of tom yum paste and the food that came into my mind was fried tom yum mee hoon....
It's just my simple easy peasy fried tom yum mee hoon with garlics, onions and eggs.

Breakfast 13/5/2016

My little boy is always looking forward to Thursday excitingly because there is a weekly night market here at my Taman. Everyday he is so busy with school work once home. But Thursday is the most energetic day albeit the workload. Reason for his motivation is food......
He always enjoy food especially food that are not really healthy but for kids, delicious foods are usually unhealthy.

So I went out earlier to the night market around 5:45pm to buy some of his favourite food before fetching him from tuition class.

He was so excited when he entered the car smelling asam laksa....hahahaha

Dinner was brought home from my mom's place so with all the night market snacks, there are so much rice left over.

As the weekend is approaching, I don't intend to keep the rice so I fried them for breakfast.

Simple fried rice with eggs and luncheon meat

This morning my daughter finished the bowl of rice. Normally she never finish the entire bowl. I bet today's fried rice must be really yummy :) Also for quite a long time I didn't prepare fried rice for their breakfast.

Busy weekend - part 2

Previous post I was blogging about my Saturday morning brunch at this unique Kopitiam. After that scrumptions brunch, we went home for the kids to complete their school work so that evening we can follow hubby to his running clinic at Perdana Botani Garden.
The garden was known as Lake Garden. It went thru a major upgrade recently. I still remembered the last time we were there for the kids to cycle around the park.

Uniquely sculptured trees

Uniquely sculptured trees and the huge dorm shelter

The free wifi zone, also known as the Bamboo Village. Lots of visitors will climb up the bamboo shelter and rest there while surfing on their phones.

The garden surrounded by the concrete jungle

Man-made waterfall
This place is very beautiful for photography as there are many green surrounding the garden. We saw a couple taking their wedding photographs. Many visitors here are mainly families and joggers. Many families have picnics here to spend their quiet evening.

Managed to capture some of the participants of the training hubby attended.

The training ended earlier cause it was going to rain. Me and kids managed to get back to our car parked quite far away from where we were on time.

We will definitely visit the garden again. Perhaps with another family or two for picnic...

Busy Weekend - part 1

Most of the weekends now are busy weekends for me...almost every weekend hubby would be out running at events, be it in the morning or evening. Half a day gone just like that.
I felt our family weekend bonding time are getting lesser and lesser.
Last Saturday, we brought my mom our for brunch to celebrate mother's day. It was brunch cause the restaurant only opens at 11:00am.
It is one of our favourite restaurant but seldom patronise cause the queue is crazy if we're late. So we always plan a day earlier to arrive on the right time else will have to queue for at minimum 30 to 45 minutes.
So what is there to shout about the restaurant?

The restaurant is located at Jalan Pudu, along a stretch of old shoplots. This restaurant has been in business for many years. Most people will not notice the restaurant especially the youngsters unless their parents or grandparents have been there.

The shop name is Kedai Kopi Hock Seng Hin. The name does not indicate it's a specialty restaurant at all. From the outlook, it's just like those old fashioned kopitiam but many will wonder why there's always lots of people queuing outside the entrance of the restaurant.

The picture above is the snapshot of the restaurant's specialty. This is the must order dish of the restaurant and it's limited to one plate per table. The owner don't usually allows more than a plate per table unless you are really early and customers are not queuing up yet.

This dish is black beans braised fish head cooked using charcoal stove. The kitchen is infact using charcoal stove which makes their dishes specially delicious and yummy.

Besides their braised fish head, the other dishes especially braised bittergourd with roast pork or chicken or pork ribs and stir fried choy sum are also our favourites.
One can take up to few bowls of rice with these three dishes

The restaurant address:

Coffee Coffee

Last Monday was a busy day for me and hubby as chauffeur. Even though it's a public holiday, our children are having tuitions early morning till late noon.
After dropping my son to his first class, we send our girl to her tutorial class. After dropping her, me and hubby went to McDonalds for our morning kick, latte.
In conjunction with Mother's Day celebration, McDonalds is having promotion from their McCafe with their McCafe’s Deal for Two.

All you need to do is just flash any of these coupons to enjoy...
Find out more: ... http://www.mcdonalds.com.my/…/article/a-deal-for-two-mom-you

Our Morning kick

After enjoying latte, it's to fetch our boy to his second class and off to fetch our girl from her tutorial class which ends at 11:00am. Since it's about lunch time, we went straight to a shopping mall for lunch and do some groceries shopping.

We had Auntie Annes for lunch at CBTL.... hahahaha.....why CBTL????
Cause we wanted to enjoy the Citibank Clear Card buy 1 free 1 offer and our all time favourite is Ultimate Mocha Iced Blended. For the price of 1, we get to enjoy 2 iced blended. This promotion is only valid Monday to Friday.

Our afternoon boost

We spent about 3 hours plus at the mall before going off to fetch our boy....
There goes our holiday......

While on the way home, a friend called us up for teabreak......since the meet up place is around our home, we dropped the children home for them to get refreshed and rest after a long day.
We met our friends at a local cafĂ©, Fishee Coffee.

Since we had our morning kicks and lunch boost of caffeine, we decided to order something refreshing.

Our refreshing late afternoon

Mother's Day celeration with MIL

It's mother's day celebration this weekend. Have you got any plan on the celebration? In fact many people celebrated the special day with their mothers last weekend. We celebrated with my mother in law on Monday since it's a holiday. We brought her to western dinner at Sausages and Ribs Shack. The place is just a shop in between a row of shop lots in Taman Midah. Majority of the shops are closed. It's more like a family business with not many tables. The unexpected is customers need to take off their shoes to enter the restaurant.
Their menu are quite limited in terms of choices and quantity. Their menu specialty are pork ribs and sausages (as the restaurant name implies) Customers are advised to pre-order these items upon making a reservation to avoid disappointment.

The above is one of their Spanish Pork Ribs. Juicy and delicious. The other ribs specialty is their USA Pork Ribs, unfortunately it was sold out on that day. Besides the ribs, we also ordered their Aglio Olio and other side dishes. Overall the foods are acceptable and worth a try.
